Frequently Asked Questions

Hero 6
  • What problem are you solving?
We’re making it easier for families to access the right technology for school, without the stress. Choosing and maintaining a laptop for your child can be confusing and expensive. Many off-the-shelf devices aren’t built for education, and repairs, replacements, and setup can quickly become overwhelming. Tech4Students solves this by working directly as a long term partner with your school to offer laptops that meet their exact requirements. Pre-configured, protected against damage, and ready to use from day one. With dedicated support available during term time and holidays, you can feel confident your child will always have the tools they need to succeed in their learning.
  • Why have you chosen these devices?
After extensive research and hands-on testing, we have developed a carefully selected portfolio of laptops and tablets that meet the practical, technical, and long-term demands of a real school environment. These devices go beyond standard retail models by offering features tailored specifically for education ensuring students stay productive, protected, and supported throughout the academic year. Education-grade devices are built with reinforced hinges, spill-resistant keyboards, and brighter anti-glare screens to withstand daily classroom use. They support modern Wi‑Fi 6 for reliable connectivity, standardised USB‑C charging for convenience, and many include integrated styluses, classroom-friendly touchscreens, and zero-deductible support plans with accidental damage protection. Just as importantly, this approach allows families to avoid the confusion and conflicting advice often found in retail stores. Instead of sorting through hundreds of models and inconsistent specifications, we’ve created a clear, school-approved selection aligned to your child’s educational needs and the school’s requirements.
  • What is included in the package my child will receive?
Alongside the device the school has selected, your son or daughter will receive a solid, splash-resistant protective cover, the original charger, active insurance (depending on the model), extended warranty and a label that identifies the laptop. If the school has requested software to be installed, or registration into a device management system, this will also be included.
  • My child has their own laptop. Are they able to use that in school?
You should discuss this with your school. Using the same device and school specific configuration for all students is beneficial for educational and pedagogical reasons. There are advantages to using the device provided and selected by the school, as it allows for a consistent learning experience and more efficient resolution of issues. These devices meet all key criteria, ensuring that digital tools and learning activities will work effectively on the provided devices.
  • What happens if my child leaves the school?
You can simply take the device with you to your next school. If your next school is in Qatar, we will work with you to ensure the device is compatible with the new school.
  • When can I purchase a laptop, and when can I expect it to be delivered?
The web shop will be open for parents to place orders during a specified window, coordinated with the school. Delivery usually occurs in the first weeks of the academic year directly to the child in school. Recognising transient family needs, we facilitate laptop purchases outside this window, provided they are in agreement with the school. However, delivery may take 3-4 weeks if the item is out of stock. After ordering outside the agreed window, a loan device will be provided within two days until the new device arrives. We will then deliver it to the school and exchange the loaner for the new device.
  • Can I order a device for myself or someone who isn’t attending the school?
We work with individual schools to supply packages tailored to their specific needs. We are unable to fulfill personal device requests or provide devices to students not affiliated with the school.
  • Can I cancel my order?
If you wish to cancel your order, you may do so within 14 days of placing the order by contacting us on help@tech4students.qa. Your Qatar consumer rights are not affected.
  • How long should laptops last?
Education-grade laptops are built to handle daily student use, which can be more demanding than typical home or office use. In most school settings, a well-maintained laptop will reliably serve a student for about three to four years before hardware performance, battery life, and compatibility with modern software start to decline. Our service plans are designed to match this practical lifespan. They ensure your child has a reliable, fully protected device with insurance, repairs, and loan devices, for up to three or four years. In many cases, the laptop may still work after the service plan ends. However, it would no longer benefit from our full support package, which is what guarantees uninterrupted learning by providing quick repairs, loan devices, and technical assistance. For this reason, many families choose to upgrade or renew to maintain this peace of mind.
  • What happens at the end of the service package?
You may either purchase a new laptop package from Tech4Students, or you can continue to use the device as is, without the service package. We anticipate that devices will last 4 years. However, due to manufacturer limiations, we are only able to offer a maximum of 3 years warranty and insurance. We hope to be in a position to extend this to 4 years in the coming years.
  • Are any of my Qatar Consumer Protection Laws affected?
Your rights under Qatar Consumer Law not affected or changed under any of our policies.
  • Can you help me to ethically dispose of my laptop?
Yes. We have a number of partnerships to ensure that all our old devices don't end in a landfill. You are welcome to send us your device if you no longer wish to use and we will dispose of it accordingly.
  • How many devices can I order?
Our service is limited to one device per student at any given time.
  • What is included with your service?
With Tech4Students, you get more than just a laptop, you get complete peace of mind. Every device comes with a full support package designed to keep things simple for families and focused on your child’s learning: Full warranty for the entire service period Accidental damage insurance (coverage depends on the device) A durable protective case to guard against everyday school mishaps A free loaner device if repairs are needed Onsite support at school, no trips to repair shops or dealing with manufacturers Holiday coverage, including home pick-up and return for repairs Direct access to our support team via phone, email, or portal We handle everything, from setup to support, so you’re not left managing tech issues or unexpected costs. Just reliable service, done right.
  • My child is experiencing an issue with the device. What do I do now?
Need help with your child’s device? We’ve got it covered. If your child is at school, start by speaking with the school’s IT team or front office. They’ll assess the issue and fix any minor problems. If the device needs more serious repair, they’ll provide a loan device on the spot and contact us to handle the rest. During school holidays, you can reach out to our support team directly. We’ll walk you through the steps and, if needed, arrange for the device to be picked up from your home and a loan device delivered, so your child stays connected, even during the break.
  • Do I need to back up my data before sending the device back?
Please make sure all data is backed up before sending in the device. While we always aim to repair devices without resetting or replacing them, this isn’t always possible. To avoid losing any important files, it’s essential that all data is backed up in advance, regardless of the issue.
  • What technical support is available?
This is where we truly shine. Every Tech4Students package includes direct, in-school support. If there’s an issue, staff can quickly assess the problem and either resolve it on the spot or provide a loan device immediately. No delays, no disruptions. As long as your service package is active, you’ll never be without a working device or have to deal with the hassle of visiting a store or service center. We handle everything, so your child stays focused on learning.
  • Does the laptop come with an Anti-virus?
Yes. All our devices come with professional-grade protection built in. Unlike most store-bought laptops, every device we provide includes Windows 11 Professional, which features Microsoft Defender, a robust antivirus tool that’s included as standard. If your school uses Apple Mac devices, we work closely with the school to ensure the appropriate security tools are installed and ready to go.
  • Can I have the service package only for 1 year?
Our service plans are carefully structured to cover the full expected lifespan of the device in an educational setting. A shorter 1-year plan would not provide families with the same value and peace of mind that our 2-, 3-, and where available, 4-year packages ensure. Most hardware issues, accidental damage claims, and natural wear and tear tend to occur over a longer period, typically after the first year of use. A single-year plan would not justify the upfront cost of providing extended warranty, accidental damage and theft cover, and our guaranteed support, including loan devices during repairs. By committing to a multi-year plan, families benefit from predictable costs, uninterrupted learning, and comprehensive protection throughout their child’s time at school.
  • Can I extend the service package once the period has passed?
At this time, we’re unable to extend coverage beyond the original agreement period. However, we’re actively working to expand our service options and hope to offer extended coverage, beyond the current three-year maximum, in the near future.
  • How and where do you handle all the services?
Through a long-term partnership with Informatica Qatar, renowned for their commitment to quality, we ensure all services are handled internally by our service centre, trusted partners or service centres in Qatar. This enables us to maintain impeccable quality control and consistently deliver high-standard services to the community.
  • Are batteries included for service?
Yes, batteries are covered under the standard warranty in case of failure. However, general wear and tear, such as gradual loss of battery life over time, is not included. Taking good care of the battery is essential, but if it stops working unexpectedly, we’ve got you covered.
  • Is there a warranty on accessories?
All accessories, whether included with your package or purchased separately, come with a standard 1-year warranty. Please note that accessories are not covered by insurance or any extended warranty plans.
  • Can I pay in installments
Yes. Whist this features isn't directly available through Tech4Students, most major Qatari based credit cards will allow you to spread the cost up to 12 months if requested on the day of purchase. You must contact your bank directly.
  • Are your devices cheaper than a regular shop?
Our goal isn’t to be a retail store that just sells laptops. It’s to be a long-term partner in your child’s learning journey. While regular shops may offer lower and attractive prices at times, they don’t include the value families say matters most: full warranty, accidental damage, fast replacements, onsite school support, and no repair costs. At Tech4Students, we believe every student deserves access to technology that works every day, not just the day it’s bought. So when you choose us, you’re not just buying a device. You’re investing in lasting value, peace of mind, and consistent support, all tailored to your school’s needs.”
  • What insurance do you offer and what do I need?
Lenovo laptops come with accidental damage insurance included. At this time, additional insurance options are not available. After thoroughly evaluating the current market, we’ve determined that existing consumer-level offerings do not provide meaningful value for families. Due to the limited maturity of the local insurance sector, we’re unable to offer any add-on packages that improve upon the protection already included in our standard service. That said, we continue to actively explore options and collaborate with insurers. As soon as we identify coverage that adds, in our opinion, real value, we will integrate it into our offering.
  • Is there an excess to be paid?
Lenovo: For the included Accidental Damage Insurance, there is a 200 QAR excess fee.
  • Will I get a new device for each claim?
Lenovo: Mostly repairs. we will repair the original laptop for each accident. If fixing it would cost more than the laptop’s current value, we will swap it once for a like‑new replacement. After that single full swap, the plan continues as repair‑only.
  • How many claims can I make?
Lenovo: Unlimited repairs for accidental damage during the plan term (up to the current value of the laptop). If one repair would cost more than the device is worth, we will give you a like‑new replacement once; after that, the plan continues as repair‑only.
  • Are accessories covered?
No. External items considered consumables and will need to be bought new.
  • What happens if my device is stolen?
If your device is stolen, we’ll support you in getting a replacement without starting from scratch. We’ll help you purchase a new device and integrate it into your existing service package, so there’s no need to repurchase the full bundle. If you have home contents insurance, it’s worth checking whether the theft is covered. However, in our experience, many policies exclude lower-value electronics or offer limited coverage, which is why theft insurance often provides limited value for school devices.
  • What happens if my device is damaged or broken?
Lenovo: We will try to repair first (screen, keyboard). Bigger jobs go to the service centre; you get it back fixed, usually within a week. During this period, we will provide your child with a loan device.
  • Does the insurance cover me worldwide?
Lenovo: The included damage insurance applies inside Qatar only.
  • What is not covered under insurance?
Lenovo: The following are not covered under the insurance policy: Loss or Theft of the device Damage caused by fire, flood, or lightning Cosmetic issues such as scratches, paint wear, or general wear and tear Intentional or reckless damage (e.g., deliberately bending the screen) Accessories (including charger, pen, mouse, sleeve, or headset) Data loss, malware, or software-related problems General wear and tear of the battery
  • The extra “fine‑print” parents often miss about insurance
“If it breaks, they’ll give me a brand-new laptop every time.” Don’t expect a fresh box for every accident, expect a working device. “Accidental damage cover also means theft or loss.” If a device is stolen, the manufacturer’s plan will not replace it. “The plan covers chargers, pens and headphones too.” A lost stylus or broken charger isn’t an insurance claim; it’s a spare-parts purchase. “I can add insurance whenever I’m ready.” Miss the window and you’re limited to costly out-of-warranty repairs. “Unlimited claims really mean unlimited.” Keep track of claim count. After the limit you pay full cost. “Data on the drive is safe during repair.” Teach students to back up homework to OneDrive or a USB stick. Insurance can’t restore lost files.
